SFDUG November 2015 Meeting: Dynamo for Architectural & Structural Projects

On Wednesday, November 11th at Noon, SFDUG welcomes Håvard Vasshaug as our featured virtual speaker. Håvard will present a chronological recap of his projects using Dynamo, starting with the first Random node and finishing with his recent works on reinforcement of complex geometries in subterranean hydroelectric concrete structures and a double curved facade in Paris.

Håvard serves as Design Technologist for Snøhetta in Oslo, Norway. He regularly speaks about technical workflows, digital innovation and human development at multiple international conferences and seminars, and receives wide acclaim for his talks and classes. He writes about BIM and visual scripting solutions on his website. Håvard uses Dynamo to solve modeling and data related design problems on several architectural and structural projects over the past two years.

SFDUG Oct 2015 Meeting Recording: Getting Navis Dynaworking!

Colin McCrone and Adam Sheather delivered a superb presentation on using Dynamo to manage Navisworks data.  Check out the full recording below:

This presentation is an overview of DynaWorks, a custom Dynamo package for Navisworks developed by Adam Sheather. The first part of the session will cover opening/closing files, appending, automated tests and publishing. The second part will cover how to retrieve data from Navisworks clash data and utilize that back in Revit in a number of ways, including placing families and updating clashing objects with clash data.

Speakers:

Colin McCrone serves as technical evangelist for the Dynamo product development team. He has emerged as a foremost lecturer and instructor for Autodesk.  As a computational designer and design software evangelist, he teaches and gathers requirements for digital design tools, manages customer interactions, and technical consulting services.

Adam Sheather serves as BIM Manager for YTL Corporation Bhd in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,  providing roadmaps, ICT rollout and project management, support and development across the company’s subsidiary business Group. He has played instrumental role in reusable lifecycle data planning for Project Planning & Execution, Co-ordination & 4D planning, onsite technologies and FM deliverables using BIM Project datasets.

SFDUG Kickoff Meeting No.1 - Aug 12, 2015

The kick-off meeting for the San Francisco Dynamo User Group took place last Wednesday August 12th, at HOK.  We did not expect to have such a large attendance, and we are thrilled to keep the series going to further enrich our understanding of visual programming.
We had two speakers:  Colin McCrone, Dynamo Evangelist from Autodesk, discussed the topic "Survey of Notable Dynamo Packages", and Cesar Escalante, from HOK, presented the topic "Weaving Facade", explaining in detail a Dynamo script used to design the facade for a parking structure.

Couldn't attend?  Watch the full recording in the group YouTube channel here:

Stay tuned for the next meeting on September 9th.  Details will be published here shortly.

The SFDUG is looking to fill our schedule of speakers and in need of volunteers.  Contact Cesar Escalante at sfdug.coordinator@gmail.com if you want to be part of this exciting initiative.
