SFDUG June 2018 | How Design Technology drives Change on Project Delivery

On June 13th, at 6:00 pm PST, the San Francisco Dynamo User Group and the AIA San Francisco welcomes Samuel Barcenas, from CONSTRUBIM - Mexico, on a discussion about how the AEC industry is impacted by technology change.

Featured Presentation:
How Design Technology drives Change on Project Delivery
Samuel Barcenas has researched how new technology changes our perception, visualization and understanding of projects, and how it redefines the relationship between traditional phases of design and construction, influenced by the advent of new tools and processes, such as Dynamo. He will wrap the discussion hightlighting the importance of drafting a new vision of technology, its inputs and its transformative impact in the AEC industry and the future of cities.
Samuel Barcenas, works as a BIM Specialist at CONSTRUBIM, a +40 employee firm based in Mexico City focused on Parametric Design, BIM Management & Modeling, and advaced applications in Revit, Navisworks, Cloud and Big Data. With +10 years of experiece in the AEC industry, Samuel is passionate about technology and how it helps improve design results and products.
“Architecture is one of those things in life that involves society and arts, in a way it can actually change perception for its citizens and our livability”.

SFDUG May 2018 | Reengineering Computational Design: The CORE Studio at Thornton Tomasetti

On May 16th at 6:00pm pst SFDUG welcomes Daniel Segraves, from Thornton Tomasetti Engineers, who will present some of his recent work with Dynamo.

Featured Presentation:
Reengineering Computational Design: The CORE Studio at Thornton Tomasetti

Daniel Segraves, from Thornton Tomasetti Engineers – CORE Studio, will present recent work using Dynamo for a range of structural design applications. These include a variety of translation approaches, custom workflows, model repair and analysis tools, and production aids. CORE Studio is Thorton Tomasetti’s R&D incubator and advanced modeling group.
Daniel Segraves is a CORE studio Senior Computational Designer and works closely on tool development and research projects. He is a specialist in advanced modeling and computational design strategies, with expertise spanning a wide spectrum from architectural systems optimization to urban energy modeling. His work is widely published and he lectures frequently throughout the AEC community. Daniel’s background is in the design side of the field- before coming to Thornton Tomasetti he worked as a computational design specialist for OMA, SOM, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, Gensler and others. He holds a BArch from the Rhode Island School of Design, and an MArch from the Architectural Association of London.
